Aerology
:
Plan to arrive early at the takeoff, the aerology strengthening quickly
in the morning. A meteorological beacon (143.9875) (regrettably being repaired
for the moment), gives you force and direction of the wind every quarter of
an hour. By West wind, northwest (coming from your left-handler in the takeoff)
you will be in front of wind to leave Rivière des Galets, strong turbulences
are guaranteed before every crest. Reserved for the experimented pilots. Please,
rather go and admire the magnificent point of view over Mafate's cirque and
come down again by car to bathe in the lagoon. You will enjoy flying tomorrow
!
Before flying from MAIDO, please, contact local paragliders, they will give
you tips and may even come to fly with you, if you provide the shuttle for them...
Flight plan : Mythical site with vertiginous walls, reserved nevertheless for the experimented pilots.... The possibilities of cross are numerous. Be careful however, the aerology of this site is often complex and strong. The classic flight plan is to follow crests until the exit of the circus by Rivière des Galets. Indeed, if the conditions are good, possibility of playing over the takeoff, then, if you are high enough, above crests 200m about. One can fall over, from this big cirque on the West and join the heights of Saint-Paul.
Landing : For a classic flight land on the official attero of Rivière des Galets. With a sufficient earning, above the reservoir of Sans-Soucis, one can touch down near CORA SAVANNAH supermarket (WGS84: S:-20.99023 E:55.29458) or even at feet of the cliffs on the official attero Tour des Roches. (WGS84 S -21.00325 - E 55.35601)
Watch out, as well as CORA, surroundings of the landing ground are very spongy (especially in rainy season)
