DOS D'ANE
Situation : Saint-Paul region (West coast), near Rivière des Galets.

Altitude : 830 metres ASL
One of the most beautiful
sites of Hang-gliding inReunion. The takeoff was very well fitted out, but a
little damaged by the cyclone DINA.
Access :
Go to Rivière des Galets village, then rise up to Dos d'âne
church (40 minutes on foot).
Don't forget to stop at the bakery with a parapente decoration to taste the
local speciality : Macatia.
Go down the concrete road, then go up the dirt track on the right-hand side
for about 10 minutes. Possibility of bus, near the bakery of the Rivière
des Galets, it will take you up to the village of Dos d'âne.

Aerology : You must be careful when the wind is coming from the North, it makes you pass to leeward of the crest to go up to the Rivière des Galets. As to St-Leu, make sure that there is no strong wind on the sea which would risk to income during the flight. Avoid flying in this site by heavy thermal conditions because important venturi effect and turbulences in the heart of the river.
Flight plan : Try to fill up from the release of the déco. The crossing of the Rivière des Galets often means big "dégueulante". When hung on the crest of Sans-Soucis cistern, the cross southwards is opened to you. Otherwise, possibility of arising in the heart of Rivière des Galets, but please, get information from the people over there, to know exactly the authorized places.
Landing : Landing
is possible in the heart of Rivière des Galets (see higher) (GPS:WGS84:
S:-21.97701 E:55.35601) or on one of the numerous football
pitches of Rivière des Galets or
La Possession, as soon as the conditions
strengthen. If you can rise hight enough, you can make a nice touch down at
Tour des Roches (near Cora Savannah, in the
South of the Rivière des Galets, near the 4 ways. (GPS:WGS84: S:-21.00325

Be careful, ground is spongy quite all around !
